Residential Solar.
Grid-Tied vs. Off-Grid Solar Systems
There are two main types of solar systems available. Grid-tied systems maintain a connection to the power grid for back-up. Off-grid solar systems operate with solar panels and batteries as back up with no connection or reliance to the power grid.
Grid-Tied
Generates solar power for the home when the suns out
Feeds unused power back into the grid
Owner earns credits from power company and uses those power credits at night when most power is used
Off-Grid
Generates solar power for the home when the suns out
Draws on battery pack for power at night
